Become a Certified USSF Referee in West Hartford

New Certified Referees

New referee/grassroots training is currently Open.
To become a referee the candidate must be 13 years old as of registration date.

Recertification

Recertification for 2020 is currently Closed!!

Recertification will be complete 100% On-Line.
There will be no in-class Recertification Clinics.

Background Check

Anyone over the age of 18 will have to complete a background check first before becoming a new referee or recertification. This will be included in the process of becoming a new referee or recertification. The background check takes about 3-5 days to process. Any questions on your status, contact CSRP directly. Background check renew is every 3 years.

SafeSport

All Referees 18 years old and older are required by Federal and State law to complete Safe Sport training by September 1, 2019. If your training is not completed and proof submitted to CSRP by September 1, 2019 you will be removed from the list of registered Referees and are prohibited from officiating after that date.All Referees 18 years old and older are required by Federal and State law to complete Safe Sport training by September 1, 2019. SafeSport training takes at least 90 minutes to complete but does not need to be completed in one sitting. Please get started as soon as possible. After the initial Safe Sport certification you will need to complete a yearly refresher, the refresher takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To register, sign in or learn more go to The U.S. Center for SafeSport...
- Click on the "SIGN IN" link in the upper right corner
- First time users click on the "REGISTER" link and complete the prompted steps
- Select "ADD MEMBERSHIP"
- Select "US Soccer" from the dropdown list
- Enter the "access code" specific for the Connecticut Referee Program (the access code can be found in the email that was sent to you or log in to your eReferee account)

You will receive an email from SafeSport to confirm your email address and activate your account. It is imperative that you select this link in the SafeSport email to complete the SafeSport registration process. After that, you will access SafeSport through your SafeSport username/password to complete the training.

You will receive a certificate for each of the three sections you complete. Do not upload the individual certificates to your eReferee account, you must upload the final certificate that states Successful Completion of SafeSport Trained.

Save the "SafeSport Trained" certificate on your computer.
- Log into your eReferee account at https//www.ctreferee.net and scroll down to SafeSport Certification
- Click on Browse, find and select your saved certificate on your computer
- Click on upload now


If you have a SafeSport Trained certificate that is still valid you may upload that certificate to your CSRP eReferee account.

Note: If you will reach the age of 18 soon, make sure you are SafeSport Trained before your 18th birthday.

All Referees under the age of 18 will need parental permission to complete the training.

The Grassroots Training process (formerly known as Entry Level Training) Grassroots Training process opened for 2019 certification in mid-July but the registration has been very slow. To become a referee the candidate must be 13 years old as of registration date. The process is called, The Grassroots Training process which The criteria is solely based on birthdate. The process consists of online training, an online test and once completed the link to register for the required one day, 5 hours in-person course will be activated.. Registration for the entry-level process will be open through August 31st and the in-person sessions will run through September 10th. The schedule of the in-person program can be found on the event calendar on the left-hand side of our homepage. Once registered the process must be completed within this time frame to be able to officiate this spring, if not completed the process can be completed when we open again this winter. The cost of the program is $93.95 and the detailed instructions can be found on the homepage of www.ctreferee.net. The first in-person sessions are this weekend. The in-person sessions date have been posted there is one scheduled in West Hartford on Sat March 9 starting at 12:30 pm to 5:30 at the Elmwood Community Center.
